Despite Singing In Yoruba Olamide Makes It To 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards

Despite singing mostly in Yoruba and called local, Shakitibobo singer Olamide has been nominated for 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards.

The Nigerian Afro-pop star is nominated for the Best African Act, a category that very few Nigerian superstars have won. Olamide stands side by side with some of African’s finest artists like Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, Wizkid and Alikiba.’
The YBNL boss has also been nominated for two other distinguished awards- the Movement of Black Origin awards and the MTV Africa Music Award on the Best African Act and Best Hip- Hop Act categories respectively.
Olamide wrote an emotional letter to his fans on Monday, September 26, 2016. In it he paid a glowing tribute to his fans for supporting him over the years. The singer also made it known for the umpteenth time that he did not steal late Dagrin’s style of music. He noted that the accusation that he stole the late rapper’s style almost ruined his musical career.
