Why Manchester United pulled out of Renato Sanches deal

       

Manchester United have insisted that Bayern Munich did not beat them to the signing of Renato Sanches, but claim they pulled out as early as February.
The Benfica teenager who was linked with a move to Old Trafford, on Tuesday put pen to paper on a five-year deal, to join the Bundesliga champions.
Since the transfer was confirmed, United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, has been roundly criticized for failing to land one of Europe’s hottest prospects.

But sources at the club, say although there was interest in Sanches, they decided to look at “alternative targets” this summer.
