The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNNAB) has extended students’ resumption till further notice.

FUNNAB students, last week Thursday, embarked on peaceful protest, which later turned violent, over incessant robbery attacks and rape cases on students leaving off campus.
In a statement by the Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, Mrs Emi Alawode, on Wednesday night, the authorities said a committee had been set up by the school management during a special Senate meeting held on Monday.

Alawode said the extension of the resumption was to enable the committee to submit its report, after looking at the direct and indirect causes of the protest, in order to prevent such in the nearest future.
“Consequently, the earlier declared mid-semester break has been extended till further notice, pending when the committee’s report would have been considered by the university.
“Students are also enjoined to ignore any payment directives through the social media, as currently being circulated”.
It said the university had not relented in its effort to protect lives and properties of staff and students living within the university environs, as it had continued to partner with relevant security agencies to achieve this.
