The Ebonyi State Police Command on Tuesday rescued an abducted man at Umuoghara quarry site in Ezza North local government area of the state.
It was reported that gunmen in police uniforms had stormed the victim’s shop and pretended to be looking for someone when they saw him and whisked him away.
While confirming the incident to The Nation, the police spokesman in the state, George Okafor stated that hoodlums kidnapped the victim and demanded N30 million as ransom.

He said, “The hoodlums kept the victim in a hideout in Umuoghara and demanded N30 million ransom which they later reduced.
‘’The ransom was taken to where the kidnappers said it should be dropped. Policemen had cordoned everywhere.
‘’So, the police opened fire on the kidnappers and killed one of them. The victim was rescued unhurt.”
