At least 50 people were killed and another 53 were wounded when a gunman opened fire inside a gay Orlando nightclub early Sunday, authorities said.

Orlando officials late Sunday afternoon released the names of the first four victims who lost their lives, using an official website the city designed to post updates on the deceased. Among those killed in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history were Edward Sotomayor Jr., Stanley Almodovar III, Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo and Juan Ramon Guerrero, according to the site.

Authorities said they are working to identify other victims and notify their loved ones before making any other names public.

Many of the injured victims are in critical condition at the hospital, Dr. Michael Cheatham of the Orlando Regional Medical Center told reporters at a news conference.

Please keep the following individuals in your thoughts and prayers.”
