Umtiti flattered by Barcelona interest

Umtiti

Lyon and France defender Samuel Umtiti is flattered by reports claiming Barcelona are interested in him but says he is only focusing on Euro 2016 at the moment.Barcelona are understood to be keen on signing a new centre-back this summer and have reportedly made an approach for the 22-year-old.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has since confirmed that the Catalan giants are keen on Umtiti, but haven't made a formal offer.

And as speculation continues to swirl, Umtiti admits Barcelona are a club that would appeal to any player.

"Barcelona are a club where many players would like to play," he told L'Equipe.

"But I have a contract with Lyon as everyone knows and as we have done this season, the option to go to Barcelona is not present."

Umtiti, who made 38 appearances in all competitions for Lyon this season, is currently contracted to the club until 2019.

But while Umtiti admits a potential move to Barcelona does interest him, he insists he is only thinking about helping France at the European Championships for the time being.

"Everyone is possible, both to stay and go," Umtiti added.

"Honestly, for the moment, I am concentrating on the European Championship. I want to do the right thing and then we'll talk with my club."
