Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have asked the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to dissolve the caretaker committees of the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development council areas of the state.
The lawmakers urged the governor to appoint sole administrators as replacements, with a clause that none of the new appointees should contest the next local government election in the state.
The House also ordered the incoming sole administrators not to embark on new projects but to concentrate on payment of staff salaries and debts incurred by their predecessors.

The House resolution was sequel to the motion moved by the its Deputy Speaker, Hon. Wasiu. Sanni-Eshinlokun, which was seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Olumuyiwa Jimoh.
Lawmakers like Hons. Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, Gbolahan Yishawu, the Majority Leader, Sanai Agunbiade among others who contributed to the debate on the motion, commended the outgoing council bosses for their services, noting that the resolution has given them the opportunity to concentrate on their political ambition since most of them have the ambition of returning as elected chairman.
In a related development, the House also cleared the nomination of the former Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ayotunde Phillips, as the substantive chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission.
Phillips will thus replace the outgoing chairman of the commission, a retired chief judge of the state, Justice Fatai Adeyinka.
