Oscar Pistorius will not make any money from his exclusive interview with a UK television channel.
The former Paralympian broke his three-year media silence for an hour-long programme with investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas, in his first television interview since he shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
Pistorius' uncle, Arnold, said yesterday the interview was "not about money".
''Over the past three years we have been very judicious in our media engagement and commented only in situations where it was not possible to manage the weight of media inquiries in other ways.
"We have been deeply respectful of the legal process and mindful not to contribute to the media frenzy that has characterised this case," the uncle said.
"Any proceeds will go to charities for children."
The interview will be aired after next week's proceedings in which Pistorius faces a fresh jail sentence following last year's Supreme Court of Appeal's judgment, which replaced his culpable homicide conviction with murder.
According to a statement on ITV's website, Pistorius talks about what happened the night he killed Steenkamp, his relationship with her and key details of the prosecution's case.
The programme will be aired on ITV on June 24. No plans to screen it in South Africa have been announced.
