Orlando victims who planned to marry will have joint funeral

Juan Guerrero

Wedding bells were in the future for Juan Ramon Guerrero, 22, and his 32-year-old boyfriend Christopher "Drew" Leinonen.

However, their plans to tie the knot came to a screeching halt on Sunday morning when a gunman opened fire inside of Pulse nightclub in Orlando, tragically cutting the men's lives short.

Now, according to Time, the pair will be laid to rest in a joint funeral.

Although memorial services have not yet been organized, the couples' families reportedly want them to spend eternity together, as they bury them side-by-side.

"I think my son wanted to that. That's why," Juan Ramon Guerrero, 61, told the magazine. "I don't care what the people think. I don't care."

The younger Guerrero reportedly came out to his family just three years ago, and his sister told Time that everyone was "really loving and accepting" to her brother, who had been dating Leinonen for almost two years.

"They were honestly so in love. They were soul mates. You can tell by how they looked at each other," Aryam Guerrero, 24, added. "It's a little comforting that they died together. If it's not a funeral, they were going to have a wedding together."

Gurerrero, who died at a local hospital on Sunday, and Leinonen, who was confirmed dead on Monday, were among the 49 people shot and killed at the gay nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning.

53 others were injured in the attack.

"The moment I heard my mom yell out, we all knew," Aryam added about the moment her family found out her brother was killed in the shooting. "I just kept saying, 'This isn't real.' I just didn't want it to be real."
