JNI advises Kaduna Government to engage stakeholders on amendment of preaching law

The Jama’atu Nasir Islam, JNI has advised the Kaduna State government to make wider consultation with all stakeholders on the proposed amendment to the preaching law in the state.A communique issued by the Secretary-General, Dr Khalid Abubakar Aliyu at the end of the Annual Central Council and Pre-Ramadan meeting of Jama’atu Nasir Islam, JNI, noted that it was imperative for leaders not to deviate from acts of justice, fairness, transparency and accountability in the discharge of their respective responsibilities.
“The increasing number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and the inadequate food, shelter, clothing and basic medical care available to them is alarming and worrisome.

“The Federal Government and the Nigerian Armed Forces have recorded substantial progress in curtailing the insurgency that bedeviled the North-East front-line states.
“Some Media Houses are still airing uncensored and provocative statements in the sponsored Tafsir by individuals and organizations during Ramadan. Some are still making divisive comments during and after their respective Tafsir programmes, in the month of Ramadan.
“Essential commodities have skyrocketed beyond the reach of the common man. Resolutions The meeting resolved as follows: That all citizens should be patient with the government at this trying time, as it makes efforts to bring lasting solutions to the economic hardships, social and political challenges facing the nation,” the meeting noted.
It called on all and sundry to imbibe the culture of patriotism and cooperation with leaders at all levels and called on all Muslims to intensify prayers for the President and other leaders.

The meeting enjoined all those in positions of leadership to fear Allah (SWT) and be committed to justice, fairness, transparency and accountability in the discharge of their respective responsibilities.
It urged governments at all levels and other stakeholders to do more in ameliorating the sufferings of the IDPs across the country, adding that the Victim Support Fund (VSF), should be used in ameliorating the sufferings of the IDPs and rebuilding the damaged places.
It commended the Federal Government and the Nigerian Armed Forces for the seriousness it has demonstrated and the giant strides so far recorded in fighting insurgency and urged government not to relent in its efforts. The meeting prayed for more resounding successes.
The meeting implores all media houses to be responsible and responsive in Tafsir sessions that are aired by way of censoring tapes capable of destabilizing the society.
The meeting also called on the Ulama’ to utilize their respective Tafsir sessions at all times, particularly during Ramadan to educate Muslims to be God fearing, to emphasize the fundamental Islamic teachings and to refrain from issues that could divide the Ummah.
It implored all traders especially those dealing in essential commodities to abstain from hoarding and inflating prices of food stuffs and other commodities during and after the Ramadan
