The former Immigration boss, who was in charge between June 2013 and August 2015, was testifying as the first prosecution witness in the trial of former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro over the said aborted recruitment.
Moro has been accused of collecting nearly N1 million from over 700,000 applicants in the failed recruitment test.
While reeling out his testimonies in favor of the EFCC on Wednesday, Paradang told the court that despite being aware that he was in court to testify about the 2014 recruitment, he never knew about the recruitment exercise and the Minister never carried him along.
He said the publication advertising the exercise shocked him to the bone.
“I was surprised about the recruitment exercise because I was not aware of it,” he said.
He said the former minister clearly hijacked the exercise and turned it to his personal business.
“Then I asked him, ‘it would have been fair enough for you to inform the head of the service that you were recruiting’. At least in the service we have a delegated authority to recruit from a certain cadre,” he disclosed.
DAILY POST recalls that many Nigerians lost their lives in the aborted exercise that received condemnation globally due to its poor arrangement.
The case has now been adjourned to Friday.
