The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary nominee for the Tema West constituency, Carlos Ahenkrah has said he is shocked the moves of some party members to ruin his Parliamentary prospects. Some disgruntled party members have filed a suit at the High Court questioning why Carlos Ahenkrah possesses three different passports.
The applicants want the court to declare him unfit to run for the position of a Member of Parliament.
But speaking to Citi News Carlos Ahenkrah who described the issue as misplaced says the courts will vindicate him. He explained that the BNI came for his passport around “March last year and kept it for two months.”
“After investigating they later called and released it to me and apologized, little did I know that somebody was going resuscitate this issue,” Ahenkorah added.
The parliamentary nominee asked “Ghanaians to treat this matter with the contempt that it deserves” and called on party members to continue with campaigning for the good of the party.
“Let no one take the law into their own hands. It is my fight, I would like to fight it alone, let them go ahead and do their campaigning, that is more important to me and Nana Addo. The party wants us to win power; we will not allow anybody to ruin that process.
If anybody is trying to bring me back, let them bring me alone back and let the rest march forward,” Ahenkorah added. Carlos Ahenkorah is reportedly being investigated by the BNI and the Immigration service for traveling with two different passports within a space of one week.
Carlos at loggerheads with Naa Torshie Carlos Ahenkorah faced fierce opposition from the NPP incumbent MP for the area, Irene Naa Torshie Addo during the parties primary. However, Ahenkorah emerged winner polling 503 votes, while Naa Torshie Addo had 273. The two are said to have been at loggerheads since then.
