Why Christian Pilgrims’ boss was sacked – CAN youth group

Dr Jeremiah Gado
Sequel to the exit of the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), a Youth group under the aegis of Patriotic Christian Youths of Nigeria (PCYN) has alleged that his sack was because he was unable to deliver Dr Jeremiah Gado as the candidate for the the CAN presidency.
The group alleged that Dr Gado, who is the President of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), was being sponsored by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and that he had mandated the immediate past NCPC boss to ensure his emergence.
The group through its President, Evangelist Simon Timothy Nasso, made the disclosure, Sunday while briefing journalists in Jos.

Nasso said, “Before the nomination for this CAN President election, we know very well that some appointees of this present administration, especially the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, made it clear; he came to our leaders in TEKAN, pleading with them to without any consideration, select Dr Jeremiah Gado, to be the candidate for the CAN election.
“From there we then knew he is the government’s interest.
“The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, made the recently sacked Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Okpara, to go down to the level of telling people in CAN that if they don’t vote Dr Gado as the CAN President, his position will be at stake.
“And to me, following the resolution of our meeting at TEKAN headquarters on the 16th May, 2016, and when they got the result and they know clearly that there is no way Dr Gado can scale through the TEKAN/ECWA nomination, they fired Mr. Okpara; his dismissal has a deep connection to the CAN election, because he was unable to deliver on the mandate he was given.”

On the issue of Northern and Southern candidature, the President lamented that it was unfortunate that a Christian would designate himself as a northern candidate.
“This is very strange to Christians. In Christianity unlike secular politics, we do not zone position base on regions and tribes; leadership is from God and God can decide to give the people whoever he wants regardless of his tribe, location and denomination.”
Nasso further stressed that anyone claiming to be a northern candidate or working for a northern candidate, “the person is not a mature Christian and Christ forbid that”.
“Finally, I wish we all note that leadership comes from God; no matter the person’s level of desperation and influence, it is only God that gives leadership”.
