The Ghana Police Service has said it is on the lookout for the robber who escaped after they foiled a robbery attack at the First Atlantic Bank branch at Ridge in Accra on Tuesday evening.
The suspect on the run is reported to have been wounded after exchanging shots with the police, when he and his accomplice tried to rob two customers of the bank.
The two customers had just withdrawn bulk money from the First Atlantic Bank branch and were about to set off on a motorbike when they were attacked.
One of the customers, who was the pillion rider on the motorbike, sustained gunshot wounds to his leg during the robbery attempt and is receiving treatment at the hospital.
One of the robbers, who was wounded in the shootout, has been identified as 21 year-old Ibrahim Shaibu after his arrest.
The police also revealed they confiscated a handgun and one round of live ammunition from the suspect, Ibrahim Shaibu.
They further urged the public and health service providers to be on the lookout for any individual with gunshot wounds.
