President of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, the first vice-president, Barrister Seyi Akinwumi and the General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, have left the country enroute Mexico, to attend the 66th FIFA Congress.
The Congress is expected to have over a thousand top officials in world football and will hold on Thursday and Friday.
“Every FA President of the 209 members of FIFA is presently on the way to Mexico City. They are specially invited by FIFA alongside their Vice President and General Secretary. Nigeria’s Amaju Melvin Pinnick, Seyi Akinwunmi and Mohammed Sanusi are on their way as we speak,” NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire told thenff.com on Monday.

It is also the first time the Congress will be presided over by new FIFA president, Gianni Infantino.
Infantino told the fifa.com: “Following the approval of the revised Statutes, the FIFA Congress is a key milestone in our commitment to put the reforms into action and lead FIFA and football forward. An important part of FIFA’s recovery is to engage with the football world, including former top players. After going through some uneasy times, I truly believe that the organization is on the verge of an exciting new era and that we can unite to work towards our common goal of developing football across the globe and at all levels.”
