Nduom to lead PPP in November polls

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has indicated that it will endorse Dr. Paapa Kwesi Ndoum as its flagbearer for the 2016 election.

According the PPP even though two of its members picked up nomination forms to contest for the position, Dr. Nduom was the only person to have gone through the nomination and vetting process successfully.

Speaking to Citi News, National Chairman of the party, Nii Allotey, Brew Hammond, said the party is planning a national convention in July to outdoor him.

Nii Brew said although the PPP has competent and credible people in the party, contesting for presidential position is by choice.

“There are credible people within the party who may not be interested in becoming presidents. Presidential material must not be imposed on anyone. One must be willing to campaign, willing to hold the helm of affairs of the nation.”

“It is not a mean task to be president of a nation and you must have the temperament to want to be president before you step into the race and we believe that it was open to all, no one was denied, but only Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom picked and filed his forms,” he added.

Ndoum polls 0.59% in 2012 election

Dr. Ndoum led the PPP in the 2012 election. He polled about 64,362 votes representing 0.59% of the votes cast. The 2012 results puts the PPP as the third political force in the country
