The Punch had on October 15, reported that some hoodlums at the Olokodana Junction on the Old Apapa Road, in the Oyingbo area of the state, dropped a severed head.
The police had launched a manhunt for the killers which led to Adebayo’s arrest on Wednesday.
He confessed to have put the head of the rival cult member in a polythene bag and dropped it at the said spot.
According to Adebayo, the victim who came to visit his girlfriend in their territory was killed by his gang members and the head dumped by the roadside.
The Iponri Police Division, where the matter was reported, was said to have removed the head and taken it to a morgue.
The then Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Joe Offor, who confirmed the first incident, said the police had launched a manhunt for the killers.
However, the police’s raid was successful and on Wednesday, Adebayo and Gafar Ayoola were both arrested in the Otto area as two of the suspected killers.
They were arrested by officers at the Denton Police Division.
During investigation, the second suspect, Ayoola, reportedly developed a health condition and was rushed to a private hospital where he later died.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said Adebayo had been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, where further investigation was ongoing on the matter.
She said, “The boy has confessed that his gang members cut off their victim’s head. Effort is on to arrest other members of the gang.”
