A 20-YEAR-OLD student of Tweneboa Kodua (TK) Senior High School (SHS) at Kumawu in the Ashanti Region has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to another student of the same school.

Douglas Afril, a final year science student, was attacked and stabbed on the campus of the TK SHS last Thursday following a misunderstanding.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that he was stabbed several times on his left hand during an altercation that allegedly ensued between him and Francis Adjei, also a final year Visual Arts student, over a mobile phone device.

The Kumawu District Police Commander, DSP Boakye Ansah, who confirmed the incident, told the paper that the victim remained hospitalised at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi while suspect Francis Adjei had been taken into police custody.

He said the police could not lay hands on what actually happened on the day of the incident because the victim was in an unstable condition and that they were not prepared to put out a one-sided fact of the case into the public domain.

He explained that the suspect was arrested at the school premises following the incident, whilst the victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention after he staggered out of his dormitory to cry for help.

DSP Ansah stated that as the victim was on admission battling for his life, the suspect was allowed to sit for the ongoing West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) under police escort.

He added that the police were waiting for the victim’s condition to stabilise so that they take a statement from him as part of the investigation.
