The troops, during the operation, rescued a kidnap victim who was earlier shot and held hostage by his abductors at Aba, the state capital, on 6th April 2016.
This effort was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman and made available to DAILY POST
Among the items recovered by the troops were, 2 AK-47 rifles, 9 AK-47 rifle magazine loaded with 124 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, 1 Pistol, 2 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 2 machetes and the sum of Five Million, Four Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira (N5, 490, 000. 00) only.
Other items recovered include, a Toyota RAV4 jeep with registration number MUS 428 RZ, military camouflage jungle hat, 6 mobile telephone handsets, an iPad, Diamond Bank Debit Card, bunch of different keys, 2 empty bags and a wrap of suspected marijuana.
Meanwhile, two members of the syndicate escaped while one of the suspects, identified as Mr. Chidiebere Sunday, was apprehended.
One other member of the gang in a bid to evade arrest through the roof of their den, fell from a roof and died on the spot after he hit his head on the hard floor.
