The Punch reports that the woman, in conjunction with her husband’s former driver, simply identified as ThankGod had connived and kidnapped her two children, aged two and 10 respectively; afterwards, they called the husband to pay a ransom to secure the children’s release.
After successfully abducting her two children, the suspect hid them in her sister’s place.
Luck, however, ran out on her at the point of collecting the ransom.
Although Brown initially denied the allegation against her, she later said the act was not intentional, adding that it was frustration that made her to commit the crime.
She said she had no means of survival.
The suspect claimed that her husband had abandoned her and the two children to suffer and that the kidnap was the only means of making some money from her husband.
In her confession, she said, “I did it because of frustration because my husband abandoned me and my children. Since he left us and went away, I have been suffering with my children, and I know that he has money.
“I only did it to make him bring money for me to take care of the children we had together.
“I demanded N6m as ransom to secure the release of the two children,” she added.
On his part, her accomplice, ThankGod, accepted taking part in the act after his former boss’ wife contacted him.
He said, “She called me to help her. She told me to take the two children to her sister’s place. That is how I got involved. She used me to act as the kidnapper of the two children before we were arrested.
“She lured me into it,” ThankGod added.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, said the suspects were in their custody.
He added that the children were safe and that they recovered the said amount in the course of carrying out the arrest.
