A housing expert, Mr Festus Adebayo, has urged the Federal Government to demerge the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing for effective administration and development.
According to Adebayo, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday, the merger of the three ministries will not augur well for the economic and social development of the country.
The housing expert, a television producer of housing programmes, said that the housing sector deserved to have a ministry to oversee its affairs.

“Abuja Housing Show will like to appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari, since he is working on how to get 10,000 megawatts, for the Minister of Power to concentrate on this and give Nigeria the power that we need.
“The President should please separate the Ministry of Housing from power because housing alone can drive the economy of Nigeria the same way the Federal Government wants to use agriculture.
“For every building you are constructing, you need at least eight different trades the bricklayers, the carpenters etc to be involved.
“Therefore, if the president separates housing from power and works, the economy of Nigeria will be better.

“We believed so much in the personality, competence and achievement of Babatunde Fashola before coming to power; but he should not be overburdened.’’
