Okafor was registered by the Port Harcourt club this season, after he arrived from Warri Wolves at the end of last season.
“Okafor was registered to play for Rivers United this season during the first transfer window,” said club’s secretary Ahmed Abdulrahman.
“We were therefore shocked to learn that he (Okafor) went absent without official leave and all efforts to trace his whereabouts have proved abortive.
“This is certainly worrisome especially at this stage (of the season) when we are fighting on several fronts to make Rivers United the foremost football club in Nigeria.”
Rivers United are currently seventh on the NPFL log with 13 points from nine matches.
