24 Boxers Has Been Short Listed for Camping


aag-nigeria boxing24 boxers have been shortlisted for camping, ahead of this year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Tony Konyegwachi, the head coach of the Nigeria national boxing team, confirmed this to CompleteSports.
He said: “I have submitted the names of boxers to the secretary of the NBF ahead of camping for the Olympic Games. A total of 24 boxers, which consist of 15 men and nine women, are expected to be in the camp which will be in Lagos.
Konyegwachi also spoke about his optimism, that Nigeria will participate in the 2016 Women’s World Boxing Championship in Azerbaijan, which has now been moved to May.
“The women’s world boxing tournament in Azerbaijan has been moved to May. I hope we take part because that will be the last qualifying series for women for the Olympics. But before then, we have to go to Cameroon for the African Boxing Championship which is billed for March and we will be in camp soon,” he added.
